How to fly to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania
There are many airlines, including Air France KLM, Emirates and Kenyan Airways that fly direct to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), the capital Dar es Salaam airport, or to Addis Ababa or Nairobi from which you can take a connecting flight.
You can also check for your desired dates whether it is cheaper to fly to Istanbul (Turkiye) first and then fly from Istanbul to Kilimanjaro International Airport with Turkish Airlines. This can sometimes be very advantageous.
Better value: to Nairobi, Kenya
It is also possible to fly to Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, which is for lots of trips a cheaper options.
Then take the Shuttle bus from Nairobi to Arusha, Tanzania
From Nairobi Airport, air-conditioned shuttle buses run in half a day to Arusha from US$70 (return, payable in cash per trip at the ticket office in Nairobi). These depart daily at 8.15am from the airport. With this option, bear in mind that you will need a a transit visa for Kenya, which must be applied for before arrival as e-visa. I can reserve a seat for you on this shuttle bus.
The earlier you book your tickets, the more favourable the fares are. Until the time the tickets are actually booked, prices may still change.
Where do you book your flight?
You are free to book your flight ticket yourself on the internet or through a travel agency. Try to compare as many ticket prices as possible.
I myself always find the cheapest tickets (without extra booking fees) via Skiplagged.com or Kiwi.com.
If you can find a good price for a good date, you can use the reservation form to check if there is availability at the hotel in Arusha on that date and an expedition can be scheduled. I always try to confirm this within 24 hours (on weekdays), so you can book your flight immediately and then complete your booking of the Kilimanjaro Expedition.
You want to book your Expedition Kilimanjaro?
- check whether a flight is available with your desired arrival date

Please use the booking form to book your expedition. This way I can check first whether there is availability at the hotel on your desired arrival date and whether a climb is possible.

If a Kilimanjaro Expedition can take place on your desired date, make sure to check carefully whether your flight can also be booked on that date. Keep in mind a travel duration of 11 days (arrival on day 1, departure on day 11).
After completing and submitting the booking form, you will receive a booking confirmation within 48 hours (on working days). This means that your hotel accommodation and the climb will then be officially reserved. You can then book your flight(s) directly. This booking confirmation is also the invoice.
A Kilimanjaro Expedition is not fully booked until full payment has been made. After payment you will receive the vouchers for the hotel and climb in your mailbox.
