Best Time to Climb Kilimanjaro
- January – March: Warm weather with occasional rain, cheaper flight tickets.
- April – Early May: Rainy season; no expeditions.
- June – August: Green and cold, less crowded.
- September – Early November: Best weather, busiest season.
- December: Dry and warmer, possible snow at the summit.
Kilimanjaro Expedition Price
Ramon Stoppelenburg’s Expedition Kilimanjaro offers an 11-day adventure for $1,999 per person. This includes 7 days on the mountain and 4 nights in a cozy 3-star hotel in Arusha with a spa and swimming pool.
What’s Included:
- Tanzanian VAT (18%)
- Transfers to/from Kilimanjaro International Airport or shuttle bus stop in Arusha
- Four nights’ accommodation in Arusha (B&B)
- Transfers to/from Kilimanjaro National Park entrance
- Full mountain team: guide, cook, assistants, porters
- Three meals per day during the climb
- Water (bottled first day, boiled/filtered on the mountain)
- Camping fees for the Machame Route
- Kilimanjaro National Park permit
- Flying Doctors rescue insurance surcharge
- All government taxes

- Return flights to Tanzania
- Domestic flights/transfers from Dar es Salaam

Booking Your Kilimanjaro Expedition
To book your expedition, use our reservation form. We’ll check hotel availability and climb feasibility for your desired dates.
Steps to Book:
- Check flight availability for your arrival date.
- Fill in the reservation form here (one per participant).
- Receive a booking confirmation via email.
- Upon payment, receive vouchers for the hotel and climb.
Important: Your expedition is not fully booked until full payment is made.
Tipping
In Tanzania, tipping is customary for the mountain team. Tips are collected at the ceremonial end of the expedition and handed over to the head guide. Aim to tip 10-13% of the expedition price. This is a minimum of $199 per person.
Travel Insurance
Ensure you have comprehensive travel and medical insurance covering all activities, including climbing Kilimanjaro and emergency repatriation.
Visa Requirements
A valid passport and visa are required for entry into Tanzania. Visas On Arrival
can be obtained at Dar es Salaam or Kilimanjaro International Airport, or at the Tanzania/Kenya border for $50 USD (cash). US passport holders pay $100 USD.
Alternatively, apply online for an eVisa or arrange it in advance at a Tanzanian consulate. Once obtained, the visa allows a 90-day stay in Tanzania.
